ASTINE GROUPE / ENGINEERING PROJECT 001

anix.

A kernel built
from the ground up.

Anix is an open-source, 64-bit kernel project targeting x86_64. Its design direction is modular and Unix-like, with an emphasis on clear implementation and well-defined boundaries.

01THE PROJECT

Not a distribution.
Not a desktop.
The kernel.

Anix is the low-level core a future system can be built around.

The kernel is responsible for the foundations. A shell, developer tools, system services, and applications are separate components that can be developed around it. Keeping that distinction clear is part of the design.

02ENGINEERING PRINCIPLES

Clarity is an
engineering choice.

These principles describe the direction of the project, not a claim that every capability is already implemented.

01

Readable implementation

Prefer explicit structures and code that developers can inspect, follow, and change.

↗
02

Defined boundaries

Keep kernel responsibilities distinct from user-space services and developer tooling.

↗
03

Build in the open

Make progress verifiable. Describe planned work as planned work, and let the code speak for itself.

↗
03DEVELOPMENT ORDER

Kernel first.
Then outward.

The kernel is the first priority. The developer bridge and SDK come after the core interfaces are established, with the surrounding system built as separate layers.
